Where you would use it:
· When making complex decisions associated with AI input
· When pure data, pure intuition, or pure context alone, feel insufficient
· When teams need to integrate different ways of knowing
· When you are in danger defaulting to relying on one type of intelligence
The tool: Three Points to Balance:
· Data: What the numbers and AI reveal—patterns, metrics, predictions, measurable insights
· Intuition: What experience tells you—gut feelings, pattern recognition below conscious thought, “something feels off”
· Context: What the situation demands—relationships, culture, promises made, local and personal realities that resist datafication
How to use it: Today, draw a triangle with Data, Intuition and Context at each of the vertices, and mark where a key decision is landing. Are you over-relying on data? Ignoring intuition? Missing context? Tomorrow, track where it actually landed. Like conducting an orchestra, you don’t choose one section—the aim is to bring all three into harmony. Consider keeping a “Score Sheet” noting which voice led, which got suppressed, and what happened when you rebalanced. Gradually learn when each type of knowing serves you best.
